Ludvíkov lies in the mountain valley of the Bílá Opava, in the Jeseníky Protected Landscape Area, between Vrbno pod Pradědem and Karlova Studánka.

The village grew around ironworks established here in 1672 by the Teutonic Order. The village has a late-18th-century Baroque Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary, with an organ made by the Rieger company in 1874. The Ludvíkovské skalní město is a rock formation used for climbing. The Vysoká–Hláska mining trail passes through the village, with remains of copper mining including shafts, adits and pings.
